Location
Dorchester and Weymouth are slightly further out, but well worth the trip and Bridport, Dorchester and Weymouth can all be accessed on the X 51 or X 53 bus services. From the site, Bridport is £2 on the bus.
Charmouth is about a mile away across the island and has a mix of sand and pebble beaches which are dog friendly and a good place to start fossil hunting.
Lyme Regis is 2 miles the opposite way off the island and Monmouth Beach is dog friendly with some sand but also being a Pebble Beach and the favoured site for fossil hunters. As well as the usual pubs and eateries there is an indoor antiques market, amusements and cafeterias.
In high season, dogs are not permitted on the main sandy beach which runs the full length of Lyme. The high Street hosts a range of independent retailers as well as banks, small convenience supermarkets and bookshops as well as bakeries, cafeterias and fossil shops.
Axminster is about 4 miles away and has a big Tesco and the Pets At Home store as well as being a popular small market town, and Honiton is about 15 miles away with an ALDI, Lidl and a High Street made up of independent retailers.
There is certainly plenty to do whatever your holiday style and preferences.
All we ask is that you leave our Holiday home in the same state as you receive it clean and tidy with Bins emptied before you leave. But most of all have a fantastic relaxing break.
We hope you enjoy the stay at our holiday retreat!!
